French Onion Beef Bake

Oh, there’s no need to serve up plain white rice. No indeed, not when French Onion Beef Bake is right there ready to take center stage! Hunks of juicy beef and rice that are flavored with even more savory beef flavor and the distinct fragrance of French onion soup is already a pretty perfect dish. But then you top it with butter for that extra hit of richness and you’ll how you ever lived without this kind of luxury. That’s French Onion Beef Bake for you; it takes what seems to be humble ingredients and makes them extraordinary!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2 cups long grain white rice, uncooked
  • 2 (10.5-ounce) cans beef consommé
  • 2 (10.5-ounce) cans French onion soup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup butter, cut into slices
  • fresh parsley, to taste, chopped, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

Step 2 –Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Step 3 –In a large skillet, add the ground beef and the garlic salt.

Step 4 –Cook the seasoned ground beef, while crumbling, until it is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 5 –In the prepared baking dish, add the rice and the seasoned ground beef.

Step 6 –Pour the consommé, the French onion soup, and the water to the baking dish and stir until combined.

Step 7 –Scatter the butter slices on top of the mixture.

Step 8 –Cover the bake with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Step 9 –Remove the foil and bake until the rice has absorbed all of the liquid and the top is golden, about 30 minutes.

Step 10 –Fluff the rice with a fork and serve garnished with the parsley.
