Hands-Free Ribs

What is it about Hands-Free Ribs that makes it “hands-free”? You’re gonna love this. Rather than withering away over a hot grill in the sweltering sun, you’ll be sitting in the air-conditioning with your feet up, while the juiciest, tastiest, yummiest ribs soak and tenderize in your slow cooker. No sweat, no tears, just some ding-dang good ribs. So, the next time you’re craving ribs and have some time to waste, Hands-Free Ribs are the way to go!

Ingredients

    For the rub:

    • 1 tablespoon paprika
    • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
    • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

    For the ribs:

    • 2 (3-4-pound) racks baby back ribs
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 4 cloves garlic, sliced
    • 1/2 cup water

    For the sauce:

    • 1/4 cup ketchup
    • 1/2 cup chili sauce
    • 1/2 cup barbeque sauce, of your choice

    Directions

    Step 1 –In a small mixing bowl, add the paprika, the brown sugar, the garlic powder, the onion powder, the black pepper, the lemon pepper, and the salt and mix until it is well-combined.

    Step 2 –Remove and discard the silver membrane from the back of the ribs.

    Step 3 –Rub the ribs all over with the spice mixture.

    Step 4 –Place the chopped onion, the sliced garlic, the water, and the seasoned ribs in a slow cooker and cook until they are fork-tender, on high heat for 4 hours or on low heat for 8 hours.

    Step 5 –Preheat the broiler.

    Step 6 –In a small mixing bowl, add the ketchup, the chili sauce, and the barbecue sauce and mix until it is well-combined.

    Step 7 –Brush the cooked ribs with the sauce mixture and place them on a baking sheet.

    Step 8 –Broil the ribs until they are charred, about 3-5 minutes.

    Step 9 –Serve.
