Homemade BBQ Sauce is better than anything you’ll find in a bottle, balancing its savory and sweet flavors perfectly. Slathered on grilled chicken and burgers or drizzled on pulled pork, this sauce emphasizes the smoky and spicy tastes you want during a backyard cookout. Homemade BBQ Sauce is easy and quick to make so you can start wowing at summertime parties in an instant.

Ingredients

  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground mixed pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • cayenne, optional, to taste

Directions

Step 1 –In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine all of the ingredients and whisk vigorously.

Step 2 –Once the contents begin to simmer, reduce the heat to medium-low.

Step 3 –Allow the mixture to simmer until thickened, about 10-15 minutes.

Step 4 –Serve at once, or refrigerate in a sealed container, such as a Mason jar, for up to one week.
