Depending upon what type of car inspection is being performed, the time duration for how long a car inspection will take depends.

There are majorly 5 steps performed during a car inspection and each one belongs to testing one aspect of the car. Moreover, apart from testing the car, its certification can take another span of time as well. The 5 major steps of car inspection are as follows:

  1. Physical car inspection
  2. Interior car inspection
  3. Emssion test of the car
  4. Mechanical functions of the car
  5. Paperwork and certification of the car

Secondly, an interior inspection of the car will take about 15 minutes to 30 minutes on average to get completed. Thirdly, the emission test of the car is another process included in the car inspection that can take anywhere from about 15 minutes to 20 minutes.

Why Does A Car Inspection Take That Long?

The major reason behind why a car inspection takes that long is because every step that is performed during the car inspection holds the testing of the car in a completely different aspect. Moreover, the paperwork is also a crucial part of the process which is needed to be performed with utmost accuracy in order to give the correct results.

Physical inspection of the car is the process that probably takes the least time to be completed as compared to all other steps. In this step, the physical and observable features of the car are examined such as the body of the car, model of the car, license plate, stickers or physical accessories added if any, and other such features.

In the interior car inspection process, all the interior features of the car are inspected such as seats, seat belts, functioning of car doors, windows, and other such features.

During the mechanical testing of the car, all of its mechanical functions are tested. Some of the major functions that are tested during this step are the functioning of the steering wheel, gear, gearbox, windshield, and other such mechanical functions.

Conclusion

The main purpose for which a car inspection is done while a person is either selling the car to any agency or if any person is buying the car from any agency. When a person is selling the car, to ensure that the car is in the proper condition or not and to know the actual worth of the car based upon its efficiency, a car inspection is done.

While, on the other hand, in case if the person is buying a car from any agency, then to know if the car is having a good efficiency or not, and to know its approximate selling price, a car inspection is done.
