The novel to kill a mockingbird is written by Harper Lee. The entire novel has been narrated by Scout Finch, who was just a six-year-old kid who lives with her father Atticus, who was a lawyer by profession, and her older brother who was ten-year-old, also lives with them, his name was Jem. The entire novel consists of three important characters i.e Scout, Atticus, and Jem.

During the novel, Scout, Jem, and their friend Dill, all the three kids willingly trying to make their neighbor who was too reclusive leave his house, the neighbor’s name were Boo Radley in the novel. Although boo has never been seen in Maycomb since he was in his teenage. Maycomb was a big town that was filled with interesting people and thrilling places to visit.

On the other hand, Maycomb is a place where many racists reside and during the novel, Atticus is asked to defend a black man who was blamed for the things which he hasn’t done, the false accusation of raping a white woman was labeled on him and Atticus has to defend him from the accusation which has no reality at all.

Atticus takes on the case even as his responsibility besides knowing that there is very little hope of thriving. Both his children’s i.e Scout and Jem have learned one of the most important lessons of their life from their father.

Why Would Atticus Stay In Jem’s Room For That Long?

One fine night Boo who was Atticus’ neighbor stands and started coughing and that Scout found not good leaving Boo during that time as he was not well so he went with Boo to Jem’s Room so he can say goodnight.

During this entire thing while happening Scout saw something outside the window that made her believe her father’s statement that it’s impossible to know someone until you are in his shoes along with many other things that made her feel sad for Boo.

That night Scout asked Atticus that what he is reading in a sleepy voice when she saw that Atticus is in Jem’s room then he replied The Gray Ghost which was a horror book and both the children’s insisted to hear the story. He tries to send her to bed but then allows her to stay. When Scout asks Atticus to read it aloud, Atticus insists it’s too scary and she’s had enough fright for one night, but Scout insists that she and Jem weren’t scary.

Atticus begins to read out loud. Scout along with Jem falls asleep and wakes when Atticus nudges her with his toe. He spends the rest of the night in Jem’s room just to narrate the story to his children i.e Scout and Jem of a book which he was reading which took an entire night to get completed.

To kill a mockingbird is one of the most successful and popular novels of all time, which has been written by Harper Lee. The novel possesses many phases alongwith some twists and turns which has been perfectly liked by the audience.

Atticus, who was the father of Scout and Jem was narrating a ghost story to his children one fine night as Scout insisted to do so, and while narrating the story both the children fall asleep, and this way Atticus stays in Jem’s room to make his keep sleep.
