Ingredients
- 1 1/4 pounds 90% lean ground beef
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon cold water
- 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 3 cups rice, cooked
- 3 cups vegetables such as broccoli, asparagus, carrots, mushrooms and/or peppers, steamed or sautéed
Directions
Step 1 –In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook and stir the beef until it is browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 2 –Add the garlic and the ginger to the beef and cook, about 1 minute.
Step 3 –While the beef is cooking, in a small bowl, whisk the sesame oil, the brown sugar, and the soy sauce together.
Step 4 –Add the sesame oil mixture to the beef mixture, bring to a simmer, and cook, about 3-4 minutes.
Step 5 –While the beef mixture is cooking, in a small bowl, add the cornstarch and the cold water and mix until the cornstarch dissolves.
Step 6 –Add the cornstarch mixture to the beef mixture and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute.
Step 7 –Add the green onions and the sesame seeds to the beef mixture and stir to combine.
