Mabel’s Maple Sausage Skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon canola oil
  • 1/2 pound Polish sausage, fully cooked, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, halved and sliced
  • 1 celery stalk, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • rice, cooked, to taste

Directions

Step 1 –Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the canola oil.

Step 2 –Add the sausage to the oil and cook, stirring frequently, until it is lightly browned, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 3 –Add the mushrooms, the bell pepper, the onion, and the celery to the sausage and cook, stirring frequently, until the vegetables are tender, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 4 –Stir the maple syrup and the pepper into the sausage mixture and cook until the maple syrup is heated through.

Step 5 –Serve the sausage mixture with the rice.
