Ingredients
- 1/2 tablespoon avocado oil
- 1 pound chicken breasts, skinless and boneless
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, divided
- 2 1/2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons low-sodium tamari or soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- rice, optional, to taste, cooked and warm, for serving
- cilantro leaves, optional, to taste, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2 –Heat the oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 3 –Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
Step 4 –Sprinkle the chicken with the salt and 1/2 of the pepper.
Step 5 –Add the seasoned chicken to the skillet and sear the chicken until golden on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
Step 6 –In a small bowl, combine the maple syrup, the tamari, the garlic, the turmeric, and the remaining black pepper.
Step 7 –Carefully pour the maple sauce over the cooked chicken, tossing to coat.
Step 8 –Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake until the chicken is tender and a thermometer inserted into the center of the chicken reads at least 165 degrees F, about 10 minutes.
Step 9 –Serve the maple chicken with the warm rice, garnished with the cilantro.
