Sour Cream Noodle Bake

Got a busy night ahead of you, not much time, and a picky team to please? Sour Cream Noodle Bake will always go up to bat for you and keep all your bases covered! Don’t be caught out in left field, hit a grand slam with these tangy tomato and creamy sauce-covered noodles. They don’t stop there either! No, they’re in the dugout with a double layer of melted salty cheese. No foul balls or strikeouts here! This designated hitter is an out-of-the-kitchen kind of homerun! After its big-league debut at your table, you will definitely be nominated for the “golden hot pad” award and get inducted into the “dinner-saving” hall of fame. It doesn’t get any better than that… folks, that’s a winner!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 1/4 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/4 cups small curd cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 3 –In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the egg noodles to al dente, according to the package directions. Drain.

Step 4 –While the noodles are cooking, in a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground chuck, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.

Step 5 –Reduce the heat to medium-low, add the tomato sauce, the salt, and the black pepper to the ground chuck and simmer, stirring occasionally, until it is heated through.

Step 6 –In a large bowl, add the sour cream and the cottage cheese and mix well.

Step 7 –Add the black pepper to the sour cream mixture and mix well.

Step 8 –Add the cooked noodles to the sour cream mixture and mix well.

Step 9 –Add the green onions to the noodle mixture and mix well.

Step 10 –Pour 1/2 of the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 11 –Evenly layer 1/2 of the ground chuck mixture on top of the noodle layer.

Step 12 –Evenly sprinkle 1/2 of the cheddar cheese on top of the meat layer.

Step 13 –Repeat the noodle layer, the meat layer, and the cheddar cheese layer once.

Step 14 –Bake the noodle mixture until the cheese has melted, about 20 minutes.

Step 15 –Let the bake rest.

Step 16 –Plate and serve.
