Apple Butter on the Rocks

Nothing like a fall afternoon of front porch sittin’. It’s so much fun, you may not even want to wait for fall to roll around. With Apple Butter on the Rocks in hand, you are in for one sweet afternoon, regardless of the season. When yummy, creamy apple butter, beautifully seasoned apple cider, and smooth and smoky bourbon are shaken, not stirred, it will quickly become your fall go-to drink of choice. Apple Butter on the Rocks is smooth and easy just like a great fall afternoon. Come on over and sit a spell!

Ingredients

  • coarse sugar, to taste
  • apple, to taste, sliced
  • ice, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons apple butter, store-bought or homemade
  • 2 dashes aromatic or orange bitters
  • 1/4 cup apple cider
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1 1/2 ounces club soda
  • cinnamon stick, to taste, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –Add the coarse sugar to a plate large enough to accommodate the rims of the glasses.

Step 2 –Rub one of the apple slices along the rim of each of the glasses, then dip each rim into the sugar to coat.

Step 3 –Fill the prepared serving glasses with the ice.

Step 4 –In a cocktail shaker, add the apple butter, the bitters, the apple cider, and the bourbon and shake vigorously to combine.

Step 5 –Evenly pour the bourbon mixture over the ice in each glass.

Step 6 –Evenly top each cocktail with the club soda.

Step 7 –Serve garnished with the apple slices and the cinnamon sticks.
