You will be absolutely obsessed with the way the French bread cubes soak up all the buttery, brown sugary goodness. It’s a breeze to make and a delight to serve. Sprinkled with a bit of powdered sugar, fill up to your heart’s content with Brown Sugar French Toast Casserole!


For the French toast casserole:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed, divided
  • 1/2 loaf French bread, cut into cubes
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon, divided

Optional garnishes:

  • powdered sugar, to taste
  • strawberries, to taste
  • raspberries, to taste


Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 13×9-inch baking pan.

Step 3 –In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.

Step 4 –Stir 1 cup of the brown sugar into the melted butter until it has dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

Step 5 –Pour the brown sugar-butter into the bottom of the prepared pan and spread it out evenly.

Step 6 –Sprinkle the bread cubes over the brown sugar-butter.
