Apple Pie Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more, to taste, for dusting a pan
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar, divided
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened, plus 1 tablespoon butter, melted, divided
  • 1/4 cup applesauce
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 large apple, peeled and chopped

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 4×8-inch loaf pan and use the extra flour to lightly dust it. Tap out the excess flour.

Step 3 –In a small bowl, add the cinnamon and 1/3 cup of the brown sugar and mix to combine.

Step 4 –In a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed, add the granulated sugar, the remaining brown sugar, and 1/4 cup of the softened butter and beat until fluffy.

Step 5 –Add the applesauce, the beaten eggs, and the vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and beat until well-combined.

Step 6 –In a medium bowl, add 1 1/2 cups of the flour and the baking powder and stir to combine.

Step 7 –Add the flour mixture and the milk to the batter mixture and stir until just combined. Do not over-mix.

Step 8 –Pour 1/2 of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

Step 9 –Evenly sprinkle 1/2 of the apples and 1/2 of the cinnamon mixture on top of the batter.

Step 10 –Add the remaining apples to the remaining batter and stir to combine.

Step 11 –Evenly pour the remaining batter on top of the apple layer.

Step 12 –Evenly sprinkle the remaining cinnamon mixture on the top of the batter layer.

Step 13 –Bake the bread for 40 minutes.

Step 14 –Brush the top of the bread with the melted butter.

Step 15 –Bake the bread until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 5-10 minutes.

Step 16 –Transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool, about 10 minutes.

Step 17 –Slice and serve.
