  • 1/2 cup warm milk, about 120-130 degrees F
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more, to taste, for the dough and for dusting a work surface

For the filling:

  • 1/2 cup plus 1/4 cup butter, melted, divided
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 ounces bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled

For the glaze:

  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar, sifted

Directions

Step 1 –Using the oil, coat the inside of a glass bowl and set it aside

Step 2 –In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Set the yeast mixture aside to bloom.

Step 3 –In the bowl of a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment, add the warm milk, the sugar, 1/3 cup of the melted butter, the salt, and the egg and mix to combine.

Step 4 –Add 2 cups of the flour to the milk mixture and mix until smooth.

Step 5 –Alternate adding the yeast mixture and the remaining 1 1/2 cups of the flour to the dough mixture, mixing until smooth after each addition. Add the extra flour, a little at a time, if needed until the desired consistency is reached.

Step 12 –Sprinkle the brown sugar, the cinnamon, and the bacon crumbles evenly over the buttered-side of the dough.

Step 13 –Beginning on the long side of the dough, roll the dough into a log, pinching the seam and the ends to seal it.

Step 14 –Cut the dough log into 12 even slices.

Step 15 –Pour the remaining 1/4 cup of the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 16 –Place the sliced rolls in the pan so that they are almost touching and allow them to rise until they double in size, about 45 minutes-1 hour.

Step 19 –Whisk the maple syrup and the confectioners’ sugar together until smooth.
