Banana Bread Bars

Ingredients

For the bars:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • salt, to taste

For the cream cheese frosting:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 10×15-inch jelly roll pan or cake pan.

Step 3 –Cream 1/2 cup of the butter and 2 cups of the sugar together until smooth.

Step 4 –Add the eggs and mix well.

Step 5 –Add the bananas and mix well

Step 6 –Add 1 teaspoon of the vanilla and mix well.

Step 7 –In a separate bowl, mix the flour, the baking soda, and the salt together.

Step 8 –Add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredient mixture and mix well.

Step 9 –Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

Step 10 –Bake until a cake tester comes out clean, about 25 minutes.

Step 11 –Allow the bars to cool.

Step 12 –Mix the remaining butter, the cream cheese, the powdered sugar, and the remaining vanilla together until smooth and creamy.

Step 13 –Spread the cream cheese frosting over the cooled banana bars.

Step 15 –Slice and serve.
