Ingredients

  • 4 cups French bread, cubed
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries, plus more for serving
  • 2 (8-ounce) cartons mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar, plus more for dusting
  • 10 slices French bread
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups half-and-half cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup almonds, sliced and toasted

Directions

Step 1 –Grease a 13×9-inch baking dish.

Step 2 –In the prepared baking dish, add the bread cubes and the blueberries.

Step 3 –In a small bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese and the confectioners’ sugar until it is smooth.

Step 4 –Drop the mascarpone mixture by tablespoonfuls over the blueberries, then top with the bread slices.

Step 5 –In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, the cream, the milk, the granulated sugar, and the vanilla.

Step 6 –Pour the egg mixture over the bread, then refrigerate the bake, covered, for at least 8 hours and up to overnight.

Step 7 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 8 –Bake the blueberry mixture, uncovered, until it is puffed and golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, about 30-40 minutes.

Step 9 –Let the bake stand for 10 minutes.

Step 10 –Dust the bake with the extra confectioners’ sugar, sprinkle with the almonds, and garnish with the extra blueberries.
