Cheesy Pita

You’ll get your fix and then some with the fluffy, warm bread that is layered with a homemade garlic butter, tangy pizza sauce, melty mozzarella cheese, and spicy pepperoni. When baked in the oven, the cheese becomes gooey and bubbly creating the savory treat you’ve been dreaming up. Let’s be real, Cheesy Pita is everyone’s dream come true!

Ingredients

For the pita:

  • 1 (16-ounce) tube refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup parmesan, freshly grated
  • 1/4 cup mini pepperoni
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley leaves, chopped

For the garlic butter:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan, freshly grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley leaves, chopped
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2 –Lightly oil a large oven-proof skillet.

Step 3 –Cut the biscuits into fourths, making 32 pieces.

Step 4 –Spread the biscuits in a single layer onto the prepared skillet.

Step 5 –Whisk the butter, 2 tablespoons of the parmesan, 2 tablespoons of the parsley, the garlic powder, the oregano, and the salt in a small bowl.

Step 6 –Brush the biscuit pizza with the garlic butter.

Step 7 –Top the garlic butter with the pizza sauce, the mozzarella, the remaining parmesan, and the mini pepperoni.

Step 8 –Bake the cheesy pita until the cheese has melted, about 14-16 minutes.

Step 9 –Garnish the cheesy pita with the remaining parsley and serve.
