Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 (12-ounce) bag semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Step 1 –Position an oven rack in the middle position.

Step 2 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 3 –Put the butter in a microwave safe bowl.

Step 5 –Brush the melted butter on the inside of a 9×13-inch pan, using only as much butter as needed.

Step 6 –Cool the remaining butter slightly.

Step 7 –Whisk the remaining cooled butter, the brown sugar, the eggs, and the vanilla in a large bowl until smooth.

Step 8 –Whisk the flour, the baking soda, and the salt together in another bowl.

Step 9 –Stir the dry ingredients mixture into the wet ingredients mixture using a spoon or a spatula, making sure not to overmix. The batter should be thick and all of the flour mixture should be fully incorporated.
