Dad’s Pulled Pork

We love telling dad jokes. Sometimes, he even laughs. Haha, aren’t dad jokes the best? We can thank our old man for that one and also for this delicious hunk of Dad’s Pulled Pork we’re about to stuff our faces with. Two big and fluffy buns cradle the juicy, tender, perfectly seasoned, and perfectly roasted pork our papa has perfected. He smothers it was the tangiest, sweetest barbeque sauce we’ve ever tasted so we can pinky promise you’re in for a real sweet and savory treat. Dad’s Pulled Pork will make you smile and feel all warm inside, just like our favorite guy does!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon mustard powder
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons sweet smoky paprika
  • 6 pounds pork shoulder
  • barbeque sauce, to taste
  • buns, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –In a small bowl, combine the sea salt, the garlic powder, the mustard powder, the brown sugar, and the paprika.

Step 2 –Rub the pork shoulder generously with the seasoning mixture.

Step 3 –Wrap the pork shoulder in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour and up to overnight.

Step 4 –Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.

Step 5 –Discard the plastic wrap and place the pork into a roasting pan.

Step 6 –Roast the pork until a meat thermometer inserted into the center of the pork reads 200 degrees F, about 6 hours.

Step 7 –At the 5-hour mark, transfer the pork from the oven, baste with the barbeque sauce, and promptly return it to the oven to finish cooking.

Step 8 –Serve the pork on the buns with the barbeque sauce.
