Ingredients
- 1 1/2 quarts oil, neutral-flavored
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 1 egg
- 2 pounds cheese curds

Directions
Step 1 –In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the oil to 375 degrees F.
Step 2 –Whisk together the buttermilk, the flour, the baking soda, the garlic salt, and the egg until smooth.
Step 3 –Coat the cheese curds in the batter, working in batches as needed.
Step 4 –Fry the cheese curds in batches until golden-brown, about 30 seconds-1 minute.
Step 5 –Drain the curds on paper towels.
Step 6 –Serve immediately.
