The colorful flavors of Firecracker Shrimp are just as appealing to the taste buds as they are to the eyes. Deep orange sauce, filled with festive fruit flavor and sparkling with red pepper flakes, crackles with excitement on the skewers and on your plate. The shrimp itself is pink, sweet, and salty, making a delicious contrast of tastes. Firecracker Shrimp is incredibly easy and speedy to make and will make a wonderful addition to any cookout or summer dinner that could use a little flare!


  • 1/2 cup apricot preserves
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined


Step 1 –Preheat the grill to medium heat.

Step 2 –In a small bowl, combine the apricot preserves, oil, soy sauce, and pepper flakes.

Step 3 –Thread the shrimp onto the skewers.

Step 4 –Grill uncovered and baste with the apricot mixture until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through at 145 degrees F internally, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Step 5 –Serve hot.
