Hawaiian Sammies

Aloha! Whether you live by the shore or you just long to, Hawaiian Sammies take you on the tropical “fanta-sea” you need! These little dudes don’t require a ton of effort, but they bring a big wave of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors from the topics. Two warm, fluffy Hawaiian sweet rolls create the gateway to enjoying these salty cheese and honey ham handhelds. The easy homemade sauce smothered on top really makes your tastebuds feel like they’re in paradise. Get ready to party (might we suggest a luau?!), Hawaiian Sammies take you to island time and there’s no turning back!

Ingredients

  • 1 (12-ounce) package Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1 (9-ounce) package sliced honey ham
  • 4 large cheddar cheese slices
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds

Directions

Step 1 –Cut the block of rolls in half horizontally.

Step 2 –Place the bottom-half sheet of the rolls into a 13×9-inch pan, adding the ham and the cheese on top.

Step 3 –Spread the mayo onto the cut-side of the top half of the rolls, then place them, mayo-side down, over the ham and cheese.

Step 4 –In a bowl, mix the melted butter, the brown sugar, the Dijon mustard, the Worcestershire sauce, the minced onion, and the poppy seeds until they are well-blended.

Step 5 –Drizzle the butter mixture over the sandwiches and then cover them, letting the sandwiches stand for 20 minutes.

Step 6 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 7 –Bake the sandwiches, covered with foil, until the cheese has melted and the sandwiches are heated through, about 20 minutes.

Step 8 –Serve.
