Homestyle Cheeseburger

Homestyle Cheeseburger is everything you want in a burger; it’s speedy, savory, succulent, and so, so easy! Perfectly seasoned ground beef is cooked until browned and juicy, topped with melty cheese and served on a bun! Yes, that’s it! Finish the Homestyle Cheeseburger off with yummy toppings of your choosing, and away you go to great flavor! Simplicity has never been so scrumptious!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • kosher salt, to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese, optional
  • 4 soft burger buns, sliced
  • burger toppings, optional, to taste, such as sliced tomatoes, lettuce, and sliced red onion, for serving
  • condiments, optional, to taste, of your choice, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –In a cast-iron pan over medium-high heat, add the oil until just smoking.

Step 2 –Divide the meat into 4 loose balls.

Step 3 –Add the meat balls carefully to the hot oil and immediately smash them down flat with a stiff metal spatula.

Step 4 –Generously add the salt and the pepper to the burger patties.

Step 5 –Cook the burgers undisturbed until the edges of the burgers are crispy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 6 –Flip the burgers and cook until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness, about 2-3 minutes for medium. Add the cheese slices to the patties about 1 minute before the burgers are done.

Step 7 –Place the burgers on the buns.

Step 8 –Serve the burgers with the toppings and the condiments of your choosing.
