There are multiple reasons because of which laying down after botox surgery is suggested to be avoided during the initial hours after having the botox surgery completed. However, the major reason is that after getting the botox surgery done, the botox is still very fragile and has not taken its proper shape.

For a botox surgery to be successful, botox must stay in its place and hold its shape as expected. However, laying down can hinder its failure fairly. Therefore, it is never recommended by surgeons to lay down for the initial few hours of the botox surgery.

There are a couple of factors that determine the time for how long a person must avoid laying down after having the botox surgery done. However, the major factor that plays a major role in determining the time for the same is the age of the person who has got botox surgery. Depending upon the age and the metabolism of the person, botox settles down on the face and this time varies.

Normally, it takes less time for people of a young age for the botox to settle down. Why Does It Take That Long To Lay Down After Botox?

The major reason why it takes that long to lay down after having the botox surgery done is that botox takes time to settle down and maintain its shape. During the initial few hours of getting botox placed on your body, it becomes quite sensitive and mobile as well. That means, botox does not have much to hold on to the skin layers and can thus easily migrate from one part of the skin to another.

Although this does not happen in most cases, until and unless an external force is provided to the botox. That means to say that if any sort of pressure is provided to the botox then it can result in migration of botox from one muscle to another. As a result, not only the placement of botox will change if pressure is applied, but the shape of the botox will change as well.

Moreover, if a person lays down in any possible way which would result in applied pressure to the botox, then not just the effectiveness of the botox would reduce, but in acute cases,  botox surgery might fail as well. Thus it is recommended to not lay down for the initial 4 to 6 hours of getting botox surgery done.
