The fumigants released during the process of fumigation can result to be a bit dangerous to not just the termites, but also humans and pets as well. Although adult people cope up with the fumigants released, it becomes quite difficult for young children, infants, and pets to cope up with the effects of fumigants on the body when exposed to them.

Thus, it becomes quite important to not bring young children, infants, and pets into a house which was recently gone through the process of fumigation. When talking specifically about pets and the time for which the house becomes safe enough to bring pets after the house has undergone the process of presentation, there are multiple factors that affect the time.

However, the major time determining factor for which the pet should be avoided to enter into a house that has been recently fumigated is the age of pets.

When talking about the age of pets, it is divided into 3 categories, that is, below 6 months, between 6 months to 1 year, and lastly, above the age of 1 year. Depending upon this, the time for how long after fumigation is safe for pets varies.

If the age of the pet is below 6 months, then it would take the longest time for them to become safe for the pet after the process of fumigation has been done. On average, a pet below 6 months of age should be avoided to enter the place for at least 5 days to 1 week.

If the age of the pet is between 6 months to 1 year, then it would take a comparatively shorter time for them to become safe for the pet after the process of fumigation has been done. On average, a pet between 6 months to 1 year of age should be avoided to enter the place for at least 3 days to 5 days.

If the age of the pet is above 1 year, then it would take the shortest time for them to become safe for the pet after the process of fumigation has been done. On average, a pet above 1 year of age should be avoided to enter the place for at least 2 days to 3 days.

Why Does It Take That Long After Fumigation To Be Safe For Pets?

The procedure of fumigating the house is done by spreading fumigants in different parts of the house. The process of fumigation is done especially to get rid of dry-wood termites as fumigants have a very high accuracy in the elimination of these termites. However, the process of fumigation is effective in killing other termites as well such as ants.

However, when going for the process of fumigation in order to get rid of termites, one must be aware that the fumigants released in the different parts of the house are quite harmful to humans and pets as well. When exposed to these fumigants, they can result in multiple side effects on the body, and majorly on the skin of humans and pets.

Although these side-effects are not very severe and can be cured within a couple of days, in cases when a person is highly sensitive, or if the person is allergic to these fumigants, the side-effects can be severe and can take about 2 weeks to 3 weeks to be cured.

Conclusion

The immune system of an adult person is developed enough to fight against the fumigants. While on the other hand, the immune system of young children, infants, and pets is not developed enough to fight off the fumigants released. As a result, when exposed to the fumigants released during the process of fumigation, the immune system fails to protect the body from them which further results in multiple side effects.
