Nostalgia Fish Sticks

These golden, delicately baked treats of savory goodness surround the mild, tender fish with a light and crunchy seasoned breadcrumb for that authentic and memorable crunch. It’s actually incredibly quick and easy to revisit these classic favorites! You might need to find some tartar sauce because that’s the only thing Nostalgia Fish Sticks are missing!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 3/4 pound cod fillets, cut into 1-inch strips
  • butter-flavored cooking spray, to taste
  • lemon wedges, to taste, optional, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2 –Spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray.

Step 3 –In a shallow bowl, add the breadcrumbs, the salt, the paprika, and the lemon-pepper seasoning, mixing to combine.

Step 4 –In a separate shallow bowl, add the flour.

Step 5 –In a separate shallow bowl, add the egg.

Step 6 –Dip the fish in the flour and coat both sides, shaking off any excess flour.

Step 7 –Dip the flour-coated fish into the egg.

Step 8 –Dip the flour-and-egg-coated fish into the breadcrumb mixture, taking care to pat the fish to help the breadcrumbs adhere.

Step 9 –Spray the fish with the butter-flavored cooking spray.

Step 10 –Bake the fish sticks, turning once, until the fish just begins to flake easily with a fork, about 10-12 minutes.
