Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups 2% milk
  • 1 (8-ounce) loaf French bread, sliced to 1-inch thickness
  • oil, to taste, for frying

Directions

Step 1 –In a small bowl, mix the sugar and the cinnamon until they are blended.

Step 2 –In a large shallow dish, whisk the eggs and the milk together.

Step 3 –Dip both sides of the bread in the egg mixture until they are lightly soaked.

Step 4 –In an electric skillet, heat 1-inch of the oil to 350 degrees F.

Step 5 –Working in batches, transfer the bread from the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drain, and fry in the oil until they are golden-brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Step 6 –Drain the French toast slices on paper towels.

Step 7 –Dip the warm French toast slices in the cinnamon sugar and toss to coat on all sides.

Step 8 –Serve.
