They’re so much fun!

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • butter, to taste
  • 4 slices Texas toast or French toast bread, sliced into 1-inch-wide strips
  • maple syrup, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat a nonstick skillet over medium heat.

Step 2 –In a large mixing bowl, add the eggs, the almond milk, the brown sugar, the granulated sugar, the vanilla, the cinnamon, the nutmeg and whisk until it is combined.

Step 3 –Add enough of the butter to the skillet so that it coats the bottom once it has melted.

Step 4 –Dip 1 strip of the bread into the egg mixture, flipping once, until it is well-coated, about 5-10 seconds. Avoid oversaturating the bread.

Step 5 –Transfer the coated strip to the melted butter and cook, flipping and rotating occasionally, until all the sides are cooked and browned, about 3 minutes per side.

Step 6 –Repeat the coating and cooking process with the remaining ingredients, adding more of the butter to the skillet, as needed, and using a paper towel to discard any black bits from the skillet.

Step 7 –Serve the French toast with the syrup.
