Ingredients

  • 6 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups dark or semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons regular or Dutch-process unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows, optional, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –In a 3-quart or larger slow cooker, combine the milk, the cream, the sugar, the vanilla, the chocolate chips, and the cocoa, stirring to combine.

Step 2 –Cook on low heat for 2 hours, stirring after 15 minutes and then every 30 minutes to keep the chocolate chips from scorching.

Step 3 –Ladle the hot chocolate into cups or mugs and garnish with the mini marshmallows.

Step 4 –Serve.
