Sweet-and-Spicy Crackers

Amazingly, you can take an already beloved cracker and make it even tastier! Yes, really! All it takes to make some Sweet-and-Spicy Crackers is coating the already buttery crackers in even more butter, smoky, sweet brown sugar, and some zesty, spicy seasonings. Then it’s back into the oven to make the Sweet-and-Spicy Crackers extra crunchy and ensure all those wonderful flavors adhere to the surface. You don’t even need dipping sauce or spreads to enjoy these crackers; they’re delicious all on their own!

Ingredients

  • 1 stick salted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4-1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • red pepper flakes, to taste
  • kosher salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 3 sleeves buttery round crackers

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.

Step 2 –Place wire racks on top of two baking sheets.

Step 3 –In a large bowl, combine the butter, the brown sugar, the garlic powder, the onion powder, the sage, the oregano, the paprika, the cayenne, the red pepper flakes, the salt, and the pepper.

Step 4 –Add the crackers to the mixture and toss to coat.

Step 5 –Spread the crackers out in an even layer on top of the racks.

Step 6 –Bake, turning them halfway through, until the crackers are golden-brown, about 15-25 minutes.

Step 7 –Allow the crackers to cool and dry, about 20 minutes.

Step 8 –Serve.
