Ingredients

For the dip:

  • 1 pound ground beef, can substitute with ground turkey or ground chicken
  • 1 (1-ounce) package taco seasoning, plus water as called for on the package directions
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded, divided
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded, divided
  • 2 ounces green chiles, chopped
  • 1 cup salsa

Optional toppings:

  • lettuce, to taste, shredded
  • tomatoes, to taste, chopped
  • olives, to taste, sliced
  • cilantro, to taste, chopped
  • jalapeño, to taste, seeded and sliced
  • green onions, to taste, sliced

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2 –In a large pan, over medium heat, cook the beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 3 –Drain the fat from the pan.

Step 4 –Add the taco seasoning and the called for water to the cooked beef and then cook according to the package directions.

Step 5 –In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese, the sour cream, 1/2 of the cheddar, 1/2 of the Monterey Jack, and the chiles, mixing until fully combined.

Step 6 –Spread the cream cheese mixture onto the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 7 –Layer the meat mixture on top of the cream cheese mixture.

Step 8 –Layer on the salsa, the remaining cheddar cheese, and the remaining Monterey Jack.

Step 9 –Bake until bubbly and browned, about 25 minutes.

Step 10 –Top with your favorite optional toppings and serve.
