Ultimate Dinner Bake

The end-all, be-all casserole is here, y’all! Get ready to load up your plates with the Ultimate Dinner Bake! Layers of tender, salty pretzel roll pieces and succulent ham would make anyone smile all on their own. But add in the creamy, tangy mustard sauce and the smoky Gouda cheese melted on top and, well, you don’t just have a good dinner; you have the best dinner! Ultimate Dinner Bake takes the classic ham-and-cheese pairing to the next level!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pretzel rolls, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup onion, sliced
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 pound ham, diced
  • 2 cups smoked Gouda cheese, shredded, divided

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 9×13-inch glass baking dish with cooking spray.

Step 3 –Place the pretzel roll pieces in a large bowl and set it aside.

Step 4 –In an 8-inch skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.

Step 5 –Add the onion and cook until tender and beginning to brown, about 4-5 minutes.

Step 6 –Pour the onion-butter mixture over the pretzel roll pieces, tossing to coat.

Step 7 –In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, the heavy cream, and the Dijon mustard until combined.

Step 8 –Stir the ham and 1 cup of the cheese into the egg mixture.

Step 9 –Pour the egg mixture over the pretzel roll mixture and toss to coat.

Step 10 –Pour the pretzel mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 11 –Top the bake with the remaining cheese. Bake until the rolls are crispy on top and the bake reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, about 33-36 minutes.

Step 12 –Let the casserole stand for 5 minutes.

Step 13 –Serve.
