Wake Up Bars

Rise and shine! It’s time to greet the day, join in the sunshine, and begin your adventures! Coffee might get you started, but you need sustained energy to keep you going through your busy day. Wake Up Bars are just as energizing as they are delicious, with creamy and nutty peanut butter, hearty oats, and sweet bananas bringing volumes of flavor while also getting you up and at ’em! Baked to a light golden brown, Wake Up Bars are as eager as you are to tackle today’s tasks!

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons wheat germ
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.

Step 3 –In a mixing bowl, beat together the peanut butter, brown sugar, and butter with an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy.

Step 4 –Beat the egg, vanilla extract, and banana into the peanut butter mixture.

Step 5 –Stir the oats, flour, wheat germ, and baking soda into the peanut butter mixture until completely combined.

Step 6 –Spread the mixture in the prepared baking pan.

Step 7 –Bake in the preheated oven until set and lightly browned, about 20-25 minutes.

Step 8 –Transfer the pan from the oven and cool in the pan on a wire rack.

Step 9 –Cut into bars.

Step 10 –Serve.
