Ingredients
- 3 pounds lean ground turkey
- 3 medium green peppers, chopped
- 3 medium onions, finely chopped
- 2 1/4 cups ketchup
- 3/4 cup water
- 3 tablespoons white vinegar
- 3 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 16 whole wheat hamburger buns, split
Directions
Step 1 –In a Dutch oven coated with cooking spray over medium heat, cook the turkey, the green peppers, and the onions until the meat is no longer pink and the veggies are tender, about 7-10 minutes. Drain the excess grease.
Step 2 –Stir the ketchup, the water, the vinegar, the mustard, the jalapeño, and the pepper into the meat mixture and bring to a boil.
Step 3 –Lower the heat, cover the Dutch oven, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 20-30 minutes
Step 4 –Serve on the buns.
