Ingredients
For the French toast casserole:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed, divided
- 1/2 loaf French bread, cut into cubes
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
Optional garnishes:
- powdered sugar, to taste
- strawberries, to taste
- raspberries, to taste
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Step 2 –Grease a 13×9-inch baking pan.
Step 3 –In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
Step 4 –Stir 1 cup of the brown sugar into the melted butter until it has dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Step 5 –Pour the brown sugar-butter into the bottom of the prepared pan and spread it out evenly.
Step 6 –Sprinkle the bread cubes over the brown sugar-butter.
Step 7 –In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, the milk, the vanilla, and 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon together.
Step 8 –Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring they are all saturated.
Step 9 –Sprinkle the French toast mixture with the remaining cinnamon and the remaining brown sugar.
Step 10 –Bake the French toast casserole until the top is golden-brown, about 25-30 minutes.
