Look at these little treats! They’re adorable! And, of course, delicious! Brown Sugar Butter Cookies are a smoky-sweet, rich, and buttery, tender golden pastry! They are like little discs of sweetness with a crunchy sugar crust! You’ll find that Brown Sugar Butter Cookies melt in your mouth, but linger in your memory long after you eat them!

Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup white granulated sugar, optional, for rolling

Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a nonstick baking mat.
Step 3 –In the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, add the butter and the brown sugar and cream until combined.
Step 4 –Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix the butter and the brown sugar again.
Step 5 –Add the egg and the vanilla and mix until well-combined.
Step 6 –In a separate bowl, add the flour, the salt, and the baking powder and whisk to combine.
Step 7 –Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and stir until just combined.
Step 8 –Using a cookie scoop, scoop out 1 1/2-tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and roll them into balls.
Step 9 –Roll the dough balls in the granulated sugar.
Step 10 –Place the dough balls on the prepared cookie sheet and press them down with the tines of a fork.
Step 11 –Refrigerate the dough balls for at least 30 minutes and up to 1 hour.
Step 12 –Bake until the centers of the cookies are set, about 10-12 minutes.
Step 13 –Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 3-4 minutes.
Step 14 –Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 15 –Serve.
