Ingredients

For the croutons:

  • 3 cups hearty bread, such as French baguette, torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the salad:

  • 1 head romaine lettuce, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup Caesar salad dressing, store-bought or homemade
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, freshly shaved

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Place the bread pieces onto a baking tray.

Step 3 –Drizzle the bread pieces with the olive oil.

Step 4 –Sprinkle the bread with the garlic powder and the salt, mixing well to evenly coat all of the bread.

Step 5 –Bake the bread pieces until it is golden-brown and crispy, about 15-20 minutes. Mix the bread pieces once or twice while they bake to make sure that they do not burn.

Step 6 –Transfer the croutons from the oven and let them cool.

Step 7 –In a large mixing bowl, add the lettuce and the salad dressing, mixing to coat the lettuce evenly.

Step 8 –Sprinkle the salad with the shaved parmesan cheese and the croutons and serve.
