Chow Mein Bake

A little Chinese takeout tends to make everyone happy, and a serving of this Chow Mein Bake will do the same! Juicy ground beef, fluffy rice, crunchy almonds, and yummy chow mein noodles, all flavored with savory soy sauce, all combining to capture that satisfying feeling of opening up one of those little white boxes and finding exactly what you’ve been craving inside. The Chow Mein Bake is ready in under an hour and will satisfy your hunger!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1/2 cup almonds, slivered
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 5 ounces chow mein noodles

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Step 3 –Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 4 –Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, while crumbling, until just browned, about 5 minutes.

Step 5 –Add the onion and the celery to the ground beef and cook, stirring regularly, until the vegetables have slightly softened, about 5 minutes.

Step 6 –Transfer the skillet away from the heat.

Step 7 –In a large bowl, add the cream of chicken soup, the cooked rice, the almonds, the water, and the soy sauce and mix until well-combined.

Step 8 –Stir the beef mixture into the soup mixture.

Step 9 –Pour the beef-soup mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 10 –Sprinkle the chow mein noodles over the top of the beef-soup mixture.

Step 11 –Bake the casserole until heated through, about 20 minutes.
