Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 16 ounces elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 2 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions

Step 1 –Add the vegetable oil to the pressure cooker and set to sauté.

Step 2 –Add the ground beef and the onion to the oil, and cook, while crumbling the beef, until the meat is almost cooked through, about 5 minutes.

Step 3 –Add the garlic, the Worcestershire sauce, the tomato paste, the salt, and the pepper to the pot and cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes.

Step 4 –Pour 1/4 cup of the beef broth into the beef mixture and scrape the bottom of the pot to release any pieces of the meat that may be stuck.

Step 5 –Add the remaining broth and the macaroni to the beef mixture and stir, ensuring the macaroni is submerged in the broth.

Step 6 –Lock the lid, seal the valve, and set the pressure-cooking time to 5 minutes.

Step 7 –When the instant pot is done cooking, carefully quick release the steam valve.

Step 8 –Stir the shredded cheese into the beef mixture until it is completely melted and combined.

Step 9 –Serve.
