Country-Style Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, optional
  • 1 pound beef cube steaks
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 cups beef broth

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Mix the flour, the black pepper, the seasoned salt, and the garlic powder together in a shallow bowl.

Step 3 –Coat the cube steaks thoroughly with the flour mixture, patting the flour onto the steaks to get a good coating.

Step 4 –Reserve 3 tablespoons of the seasoned flour.

Step 5 –In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil.

Step 6 –Add the dredged cube steaks and pan-fry until they are golden-brown on both sides, about 5 minutes per side.

Step 7 –Place the steaks in a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 8 –Whisk the reserved seasoned flour into the beef broth until smooth.

Step 9 –Pour the flour-broth mixture over the steaks.

Step 10 –Cover the dish with aluminum foil.

Step 11 –Bake until the meat is tender, the gravy has thickened, and the meat reaches an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees F, about 2 hours.
