Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent dough
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Line a 17×12-inch cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone nonstick baking mat.

Step 3 –Unroll the crescent dough onto the prepared cookie sheet and press it into a 16×10-inch rectangle.

Step 4 –Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut 1 1/2-inch-long slanted cuts, 1-inch apart, along both long sides of the rectangle, leaving the center of the dough intact. Make sure there are the same amount of cut strips on both sides.

Step 5 –In a medium bowl, add the cream cheese, the sugar, and the vanilla and use an electric hand mixer to beat until smooth.

Step 6 –Spread the cream cheese mixture over the uncut center portion of the dough.

Step 7 –Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the cream cheese mixture.

Step 8 –Braid the crescent dough by crossing the strips over the filling, alternating from side to side. At the end, trim off any overhanging dough.

Step 9 –Bake the Danish until golden-brown, about 20-22 minutes.

Step 10 –Transfer to a serving platter or wire rack to cool.

Step 11 –Cut the Danish into slices.

Step 12 –Serve.
