Ingredients

  • 1 (2.75-ounce) package peppered gravy mix
  • 1 pound pork sausage meat, casings removed
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 (8-count) package refrigerated biscuit dough, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Step 3 –Prepare the peppered gravy according to the package directions.

Step 4 –Add the sausage to a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and cook, while crumbling, until it is cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 5 –Add the maple syrup to the meat and simmer, while stirring, for about 3 minutes.

Step 6 –Transfer the skillet from the heat.

Step 7 –Place the biscuit pieces in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 8 –Spoon the sausage mixture over the biscuits and sprinkle with the cheese.

Step 9 –Add the eggs, the milk, the salt, and the pepper to a mixing bowl and whisk well to combine.

Step 10 –Pour the egg mixture over the sausage mixture.

Step 11 –Pour the gravy over the egg mixture.

Step 12 –Bake the casserole until it is cooked through and starting to brown on top, about 40-45 minutes.
