Cats are the species that are known to live for about 10 to 18 years. A few years can increase or decrease depending upon various factors.

Various factors decide the life span of a tabby cat, and they are even distinct to each cat. The main reason, however, is the species of the cat. Since tabby is not a breed, therefore different species of cats can be tabby cats. The species matters a lot. Some species are known to outlive others. 

Another factor that influences the life span of a tabby cat is whether it gets kept as a pet or is a free cat that one can spot roaming around. The cats that get kept as a pet live longer than the ones that are not. The reason is that the pet cat gets taken care of in the most proper way, gets fed, and is not prone to fights with other animals.
