While the cats that are not a pet, have to find their food and shelter. Plus, they are prone to get ill, that too without medications, etc. 

Another reason is a medical condition that a cat faces. If a cat has a critical medical condition, the life of a cat will be shorter. That is when compared to a fit cat.
