Iced Hot Chocolate

For years people have wondered how to capture the experience of hot chocolate in a cooler (literally and figuratively) way. Because we all know it’s a different thing entirely to just chocolate milk; there’s a silkiness, a creaminess, a chocolatey flavor that chocolate milk can’t match. Instead, it’s time to bring out the showstopper: Iced Hot Chocolate. This is legitimate hot chocolate cooled to a refreshing temperature and then chilled even more by hot chocolate ice cubes (who would have thought it?)! Here’s how you find winter warmth in the summer and a touch of summer in the midst of winter: a refreshing sip from Iced Hot Chocolate!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk, divided
  • 4 tablespoons hot cocoa mix, divided

Directions

Step 1 –In a bowl, whisk together 1 cup of the milk with 2 tablespoons of the hot chocolate mix.

Step 2 –Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid, at least 12 hours.

Step 3 –Place the remaining hot chocolate mix in a glass.

Step 4 –Slowly stir the remaining milk into the hot chocolate mix, continuing to stir until all of the hot cocoa mix is dissolved. This may take more time since it is cold. Slowly streaming the milk and mixing as you do so will help.

Step 5 –When the mixture is smooth, add as many of the chocolate ice cubes as desired.

Step 6 –Serve.
