Mario’s Pizza Puffs make for a delicious snack that will leave you happy and satisfied, as much as a slice of pizza would! Each bite contains golden pizza dough, melted mozzarella cheese, and a spicy and savory pepperoni slice! Pair Mario’s Pizza Puffs with your favorite dipping sauce for maximum delight!
Ingredients
- 1 pound frozen pizza dough, thawed
- 20 slices pepperoni
- 8 ounces part-skim mozzarella cheese, cut into 20 cubes
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 small cloves garlic, minced
- salt, to taste
- marinara sauce, to taste, warmed
- red pepper flakes, optional, to taste, for topping
- parmesan cheese, optional, to taste, grated, for topping
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2 –Grease two baking sheets.
Step 3 –Shape the dough into 1 1/2-inch balls.
Step 4 –Flatten the dough balls into 1/8-inch-thick circles.
Step 5 –Place 1 of the pepperoni slices and 1 of the cheese cubes in the center of each of the circles.
Step 6 –Wrap the dough around the pepperoni-cheese mixture, pinching the edges to seal it.
Step 7 –Shape the dough into a ball again.
Step 8 –Repeat the filling and sealing process with the remaining dough, the remaining pepperoni, and the remaining cheese.
Step 9 –Place the balls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheets.
Step 10 –Bake until light golden-brown, about 10-15 minutes.
Step 11 –Cool the puffs slightly.
Step 12 –Melt butter over low heat in a small saucepan.
Step 13 –Add the garlic and the salt, taking care not to brown the butter or the garlic.
Step 14 –Brush the butter mixture over the puffs.
Step 15 –Serve the puffs with the marinara sauce, sprinkled with the red pepper flakes and the parmesan.
