Start the morning off with the perfect dish that you will want all year long! New Year’s Morning Bake is an exceptional way to begin a new tradition. When Monterey Jack and parmesan envelope themselves around seasoned, tender artichokes and fluffy eggs, you know you are on the right track. Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 (8-ounce) package frozen artichoke hearts, cooked according to the package directions, chopped
  • 3/4 cup parmesan cheese, shredded, divided
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup 2% milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • chives, to taste, sliced, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 3 –In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the butter and the oil and heat until the butter has melted.

Step 4 –Add the onion to the butter-oil mixture and cook until it is tender.

Step 5 –Add the garlic and cook, about 1 minute.

Step 6 –Add the oregano and the chopped artichokes to the onion mixture and stir to combine. Transfer the skillet from the heat.

Step 7 –Sprinkle 1/4 cup of the parmesan cheese on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 8 –Pour the artichoke mixture over the parmesan cheese layer.

Step 9 –In a large bowl, add the eggs, the milk, the salt, the white pepper, and the nutmeg and whisk to combine.

Step 10 –Add the Monterey Jack cheese and 1/4 cup of the parmesan cheese to the egg mixture and stir to combine.

Step 11 –Pour the egg mixture over the artichoke mixture.

Step 12 –Bake the morning bake, about 30 minutes.

Step 13 –Transfer the baking dish from the heat and sprinkle with the remaining parmesan cheese. Bake until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, about 8 minutes.

Step 14 –Serve the bake garnished with the chives.
