Simple and so quick, these freshly picked veggies come tender and seasoned just the way you like them, with a nice sprinkle of rich parmesan, crunchy pine nuts, spicy red pepper flakes, and herby parsley. For the green beans:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 12 ounces green beans, rinsed and dried, ends trimmed
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste

Optional toppings:

  • parmesan cheese, to taste, shredded
  • toasted pine nuts, to taste
  • crushed red pepper flakes, to taste
  • parsley, to taste, chopped


Step 1 –In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil.

Step 2 –Add the green beans to the oil and cook, stirring frequently, until they begin to soften and brown slightly on the outside, about 6-7 minutes for thin green beans and about 8-9 minutes for thick green beans.

Step 3 –Add the garlic, the salt, and the pepper to the green beans and cook for 2 minutes.

Step 4 –Transfer the green beans from the heat.

Step 5 –Serve the green beans with your favorite optional toppings.
