With your protein of choice as the base, the myriad spices get to work adding a depth of savory flavor and heat. 15-Minute Taco Meat delivers what it promises; it will be ready to fill hard or soft taco shells, or top a taco salad in a quarter of an hour.
Ingredients
- 1 pound of lean ground sirloin or ground chicken, turkey, or pork
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/8 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes, crushed
Directions
Step 1 –Over medium-high heat, crumble the beef into small chunks in a skillet.
Step 2 –Cook until brown.
Step 3 –Once brown, drain any excess grease and pat the beef dry with paper towels.
Step 4 –Return the beef to the pan and combine with the tomato sauce, water, chili powder, cumin, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Step 5 –Bring everything to a boil before reducing to a simmer.
Step 6 –Let the meat simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
Step 7 –Then serve in a shell or bowl!
