Ingredients
- 2 cups pretzels, crushed
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons white sugar, divided
- 1 (8 ounces) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 (8 ounces) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 2 (3 ounces) packages strawberry-flavored gelatin mix
- 2 cups water, boiling
- 2 (10 ounces) packages frozen strawberries
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2 –Stir together the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tablespoons of the sugar.
Step 3 –Mix well and press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Step 4 –Bake until set, about 8-10 minutes.
Step 5 –Set the pretzel crust aside to let it cool.
Step 6 –In a large mixing bowl, cream together the cream cheese and the remaining 1 cup of the sugar.
Step 7 –Fold in the whipped topping.
Step 8 –Spread the cream cheese mixture onto the cooled crust.
Step 9 –Dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water.
Step 10 –Stir the frozen strawberries into the gelatin and allow it to set briefly.
Step 11 –When the mixture is about the consistency of egg whites, pour and spread it over the cream cheese layer in the baking dish.
Step 12 –Refrigerate until set.
Step 13 –Serve chilled.
