Ingredients

  • 1 large sweet onion, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1 –Place the onion in a bowl and cover it completely with the buttermilk.

Step 2 –Mix together the flour, all-purpose seasoning, and salt in a sealable plastic bag.

Step 3 –Add a few of the onion slices to the flour mixture and shake it to coat the slices completely. Shake off any excess flour.

Step 4 –Place the coated onion strings all in a single layer on a protracted baking sheet.

Step 5 –Heat the vegetable oil in a cast-iron skillet to 350 degrees F.

Step 6 –Place the onions a few at a time in the hot oil until they are crispy, about 1-3 minutes.

Step 7 –Move the onion strings to a wire rack to drain and cool down.

Step 8 –Serve!
