Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds steak, ribeye, sirloin, or fillet, cut into chunks
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 (6-ounce) package mushrooms, cut into quarters

Directions

Step 1 –In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, the brown sugar, the bourbon, the soy sauce, the Worcestershire sauce, the red pepper flakes, and the garlic.

Step 2 –Pour the mixture into a large resealable plastic bag.

Step 3 –Add the steak cubes to the bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 4 hours.

Step 4 –Heat the vegetable oil and 2 tablespoons of the butter in a cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.

Step 5 –Drain the marinade and pat the steak tips dry.

Step 6 –Add the marinated steak to the skillet, cooking it in batches to avoid overcrowding.

Step 7 –Cook the steak until seared on all sides and with an internal temperature of at least 135 degrees F internally (this is for medium rare), about 3-4 minutes.

Step 8 –Transfer the cooked steak to a plate.

Step 9 –Add the remaining butter and the mushrooms to the skillet and cook until the mushrooms are browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 10 –Serve the steak and the mushrooms together.
